Visit a twisted, horrific version of Wonderland

Alice: Madness Returns is a platforming, puzzling and third-person combat game. Take the Lewis Carrol original and mix it with twisted adult horror, and you'll get the idea of this upcoming title.

In the first game, American McGee's Alice, we saw how a traumatized Alice lost touch with realty after the mysterious death of her family. Stuck in an asylum, she returns to Wonderland to fin it terrifyingly twisted by her disturbed mind.

In Alice: Madness Returns, Alice now lives in Victorian London, and begins to regain memories that question the nature of her family's death. Was it really an accident. These memories cause her madness to return, and she again returns to Wonderland to solve the mystery, and confront the monsters of her own insanity.

Alice: Madness Returns looks almost like a disturbed Mario 64, with its puzzles and 3D platforming, while the combat plays a little like God of War and other third person action games. It's the Wonderland gone wrong look that makes the game unique, though it remains to be seen whether this and the storyline are enough to make Alice: Madness Returns truly a great game.

Adult fans of Lewis Carrol will no doubt love the twisted take on Wonderland, but the platforming and combat gameplay may take the shine off Alice: Madness Returns.
